I've gotten back into Fallout 4 recently because of the new Automatron DLC, and I can't wait for the early access release of Tower Unite on April 8th.

Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation. Nearly 90 hours in the save, and i'm WAY past the point of finishing the story and maxing out the stats and obtaining the skills I want on my main group.
Though I have also been replaying some XCOM 2 lately, and also I have started playing the Bravely Second demo today for those sweet sweet bonuses when my collector's edition gets here when the game comes out.

Re: What games you've been playing?
When I actually have time to play games, I'm still making my way through The Witcher 3.
Phenomenal game, across almost all categories. It is my personal 2015 Game of The Year but I'll probably still be making my way through it by the end of 2016, heh. For some reason, for this game, I'm feeling the "completionist" urge.
My wife and I are also re-playing through Divinity: Original Sin with the Expanded Edition - best co-op gaming experience of my life.

Re: What games you've been playing?
I always felt apprehensive whenever Ciri came up in Witcher 3. I still don't know why.
I put 162 hours into that game and have five achievements left to get. I decided I'm going to replay/get them when the last expansion comes out. I'm easily going to have spent over 300 hours in that game by the time I shelve it.
Divinity is definitely on my to-buy list. As is XCOM 2.

Re: What games you've been playing?
XCOM 2 is great. When the game isn't crashing when you try to reload a battle save, cause your favorite specially named character gets massacred by the RNG gods. GAAAAHHHHHH. WHAT THE HECK, PATCHES?! WHY DID THIS ONLY START WITH THE MOST RECENT PATCH?!FordGT90Concept wrote:I always felt apprehensive whenever Ciri came up in Witcher 3. I still don't know why.

XCOM 2 Also lets me give all my people special names, then get upset when the RNG starts hitting them badly. ...Like Thalia. Who is named after, and designed after, an OC of mine who is basically like my mental daughter.
I own Witcher 3. ...I don't think i've gotten past like Act 2 or whatever it's equivalent thing is.

Re: What games you've been playing?
I completed a full playthrough of X-com 1, loved it, but---for some reason I haven't yet felt the urge to play the sequel. Not entirely sure why...
re Witcher 3: Some impressive stats, Ford. :-) Yeah, I just love the pacing and variety in the game, it's really staggering. The world-building is also extremely top notch - it's rare that I find myself that immersed in games these days.
re Divinity: Just make sure you play it co-op. It would make for a a rather tedious single-player game to be honest, but as a co-op experience it's absolutely brilliant IMO.

Same on not really feeling X-COM 2. I think it's just really... same-y? Terror from the Deep is the same way - it was just a retexture of X-COM 1. We need an apocalypse version with a futuristic cityscape.
I've been playing a lot of Verdun and hate it. I die alot and it's no fun.
Rainbow Six: Siege is great. I also recommend The Division if you can suspend your disbelief - yeah, enemies take like ~100+ rounds to kill, but it's a cover shooter with pure RPG mechanics. Very immersive atmosphere.

Re: What games you've been playing?
XCOM2 Has a very different feel compared to XCOM EU/EW to me. While basic gameplay is the same (that was gonna be inevitable), it throws a lot of new things in and changes things that, at least to me, makes it feel very different.Historian wrote:Same on not really feeling X-COM 2. Since XCOM lost and is no longer a real military force, you get to hide and hack things, unlike EU/EW. Your units play slightly differently (Ranger is VERY different than assault to me, given my sword love, specialist is vastly superior and rather different compared to EU/EW's Support. Though Grenadier and Sharpshooter are kinda similar to their EU/EW bases. Not much you can change for an explosives guy and sniper) and there's a number of new mechanics and missions play out differently.
It just... FEELS different ultimately.
Also customizing your people is fun.
Also. Mod support. Only in XCOM 2 can I run around with a CODE MENT Voiced Lelouch vi Britannia Psionic, with a CODE MENT voiced Suzaku Kururugi Psionic, and a Tsubaki Yayoi voiced Specialist, and a Nova voiced Sharpshooter, and a Hazama Voiced Sharpshooter, and a Donald Trump Voiced Grenadier, and Jin Kisaragi Voiced Ranger, a Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2 Tarkus/Tactical Marine Sergeant Voiced Ranger, more space marine voices, a Joker Voiced Ranger (The irony), a Sarah Kerrigan (Ghost) Voiced Ranger, all of Delta Squad being one class or another, like Fixer (40) being a Specialist and Sev (07) being a sharpshooter, and everyone wearing a Space Marine or Clone Trooper Helmet while having dark blue hair. (naturally not all at the same time due to squad size limits)
MODS. I SWEAR, MODS. ALL OF WHAT I JUST SAID IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE. ALSO, LET'S NOT FORGET THE OTHER MODS THAT ARE ANIME FOCUSED (Ignore the fact I had Code MENT and Blazblue up there...) LIKE A NEPTUNIA VOICEPACK, A NEPTUNIA HEADPACK, AND A BUNCH OF FREAKIN NGE HEADS. OR THE FACT I CAN GIVE EVERYONE A BLOOD RAVENS FLAG IF I SO WANTED.
Half of my enjoyment of XCOM 2 at this point is me marveling at all the mods. Seriously. My main team so far is composed of a Lelouch voiced Ranger, a Uni (Neptunia Character) voiced Psi Operative, a Tsubaki Yayoi voiced Specialist, and a Nova voiced Sharpshooter.
LOTS OF OTHER PEOPLE DIED. I NEED TO RECRUIT MORE PEOPLE AND MAKE ANOTHER TEAM.

Re: What games you've been playing?
In XCOM:EU/EW, my crew was usually two snipers, one assault, one support, and two heavy gunners. Assault would lure them in, heavy gunners would slaughter the robots, support/assault would capture anything that got disabled close, and snipers would mop up anything in line-of-sight. I think snipers usually ended up with the most kills.
How does the RNG work in XCOM2? Is it like XCOM where, loading a save, moving to the same location, and firing at the same target would result in the exact same outcome?

That's disappointing. I'm a head hunter in every game that gives me a gun (including Consortium). I take the extra second to aim for the head. I don't really like any games that don't reward that effort.Historian wrote:I also recommend The Division if you can suspend your disbelief - yeah, enemies take like ~100+ rounds to kill, but it's a cover shooter with pure RPG mechanics. Yeah. Pre-generated RNG. Reloading does not reseed the RNG. The best way to change things is to slightly change one move. Even moving one space to the left or right can result in radically different changes as everything is rerolled for the new seed.FordGT90Concept wrote:In XCOM:EU/EW, my crew was usually two snipers, one assault, one support, and two heavy gunners. Damned retaliation missions can be hard. I might just grab 6 and GTFO for this one. I do NOT need to deal with packs of Berserkers right now when my armor isn't upgraded.

Re: What games you've been playing?
I was playing elite dangerous for a little while there. They gave me a free ship, and I had to trek across half the galaxy to get it. And that led me to buying a new ship, fitting it, ect. I was rather enjoying myself. But that always online thing, made it take a bit too long to load combat zones, or drop from ftl (needed to load from the servers).
So I put it aside for Mass Effect 3. Almost done with the citadel shore leave dlc, and am rather enjoying it so far (destroying specialists Traynors toothbrush, was an hysterical scene).
That said, if anyone else plays elite dangerous, and wants to meetup in game, let me know.

H&D needs a sequel. Its inventory management and stealth aspects put it so far ahead of any other game in real small unit warfare.

Just got an email saying Soma has gone on sale on steam. On the one hand, I watched a youtuber play that game, and want to see what some other choices made could mean for the game and/or story as a whole. On the other, I'm a coward. Plain and simple. I can't imagine playing that game on a VR headset.

Yes. It's a barrier I will NEVER break. Due to how buggy my skyrim has gotten, and if it's not buggy, its lagging, or it's trying to murder my computer (Damned bajillion and three mods in the vain attempt to keep me entertained), and SOMEHOW NONE OF THOSE, it's not keeping me entertained.mattig89ch wrote: Edit:Is there such a thing?FordGT90Concept wrote:I've been playing way more Skyrim than is healthy. I myself, went trying to mod XCOM 2. My first effort went fairly well, I say!

Re: What games you've been playing?
I almost rage quit twice due to someone dying that I didn't want dead (surprise city vampire attack; loaded an old save and ended up replaying the first two quests of the Dawnguard campaign) and because of some other bug I thought was a bug but turned out to be okay (related to two quests in the same cave just north of Solitude). The latter, I think, was fixed by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch where it gives Athar (or w/e his name is) a radiant quest to satisfy his Follower requirement instead of relying specifically on that one that conflicts with another quest.
I have noticed the framerate sometimes isn't very good even on a i7-6700K+R9 390 but it hasn't bothered me much/any.
I'd consider the Unofficial Skyrim Patch mandatory to enjoy the game. By this point last time I played without it, I had about half a dozen miscellaneous quests stuck in my journal. As of right now, I don't think there are any broken quests.
I only have three mods loaded:
-Inigo
-Unofficial Skyrim Patch
-Sky UI
It did crash to the desktop two-three times so far but I didn't lose much/any each time it did.

Fallout 4 is my current obsession. Let's not talk about the number of hours I've put into that game, and not all the DLCs are out yet. Wow!
I played out Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut, but that was awhile back.

Re: What games you've been playing?
I find the conversations and stuff between characters a lot better in NV, they feel a lot more... I don't really know how to describe it, fluid maybe? Unless you're switching back and forth to questions they feel much more like an actual coherent conversation. Gameplay is mostly same as 3 anyway, so not much can be said about that, though the little tweaks are nice, but for me the character interaction just feels a lot more engaging. The main motivations of the factions also feel better thought out I think. The colour scheme is another thing I like over 3, it gives off a much better desolate vibe. Also I'm really annoyed by the dialogue choice system in 4.

Re: What games you've been playing?
For me, I think it's the gameplay. The weapons in FO3 suck and break all of the time. In FNV, there's a broader selection of weapons, most are modable, so you can find something perfect for your play style. Also, FO3 felt impossible without using VATS. You could be pointing directly at a hostiles head and it would hit everywhere except the head. in FNV, the only time I used VATS was when the target was in my face (e.g. rushing deathclaw). Gameplay is 80% of the fallout games; FO3 fell flat on its face in that regard so...it pains me to play it.

Re: What games you've been playing?
I agree, Empyrion is pretty much a prime example how Early Access should be handled. There are constant updates and most of them are not some alibi patches. I like to play around abit and then wait a few weeks just to be overwhelmed by the new features.OldFashioned wrote:Empyrion's super, so many updates I can't recognize it from when I first got it, and Transistor is just great, I love the soundtrack
And Transistor is pretty special... actually more art than game, if you ask me. While not 100% my cup of tea, I like the concept. Also I have a thing for wacky sci-fi stuff that is never fully explained, not even with techno-babble :)

Doom Doom or New Doom? :P I recently discovered some belief-suspending mods for ye olde doome, they're oddly well made but completely bonkers at many times.James Gabriel wrote:[Spammy quote removed --Duke]

Well i've been doing some retro gaming and playing Ultima Underworld. For a game made a year before I was born its quite a bit more advanced than most recent AAA games o.o

Retro games rock, hard. From FF to Kotor to Aoe there's an excellent game for every category. I haven't gotten to the Ultima series though, what're they like?

Well the underworld games are dungeon crawlers, but theyre also immersive simulationist games that were made by the same studio that went on to make Thief, System Shock, Deus Ex. Consortium and a lot of other games owe quite a bit to Underworld.

Welp. Guess that's another one for the want to play list. Sigh.... That thing is long enough to mummify me at the moment
Re: What games you've been playing?
Been playing Planescape Torment, never had a chance to play it back in the day, its fantastic!
Also re-playing the mafia games and getting ready for MAFIA3, and a bit of fooling around with Hitman6 and DeusExMD

Re: What games you've been playing?
Absolutely it does! That game, and those others (except Deus Ex, believe it or not) most definitely were part of our inspiration for making Consortium. My never released Cavedog game "Amen: The Awakening" is the most direct inspiration - that game was 60% done when Cavedog fell apart, forcing the project's cancellation. Amen came as a direct result of my playing ALL of the immersive sims and first-person RPGs made in the 80s and 90s. Deus Ex and Amen were in production at the same time, and both games shared a lot in common (immersive sims with full inventory system, hot-slots, story driven). Great that they were able to finish their game!ArtemisWyrm wrote:Well the underworld games are dungeon crawlers, but there also immersive simulation games that were made by the same studio that went on to make Thief, System Shock, Deus Ex. I've been playing the "Sorcery!" series lately (on part 3 now...). Really immersive fun, especially for me as the original 4 part Fighting Fantasy Gamebook series is one of my childhood faves.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

Really? It's funny how I heard people describe consortium as "like Deus Ex" after hearing you say that. I guess you just have really good taste xDGreatBird wrote:Absolutely it does! Re: What games you've been playing?
Do you know who owns Amen: The Awakening now? If The Tower did really well, is that something you'd consider buying rights to and finishing? A lot of old series are getting revived by their original developers lately. It sounds like Amen would still have an audience today, especially on GOG.GreatBird wrote:My never released Cavedog game "Amen: The Awakening" is the most direct inspiration - that game was 60% done when Cavedog fell apart, forcing the project's cancellation.
I'm playing SPAZ2 now.

Re: What games you've been playing?
Consortium is basically Amen, but massively improved and refined in every way. Also, the actual piece of software that was abandoned is far too old and rotten to do anything meaningful with at this point. I believe I actually own the rights to Amen, though, technically. :-)FordGT90Concept wrote:Do you know who owns Amen: The Awakening now? Cool that you enjoyed SPAZ2, the two guys behind it are extremely good and talented developers.

Re: What games you've been playing?
Ooo, since you own it, you should totally make Amen a thing in the alternative reality. :D
SPAZ2 is pretty good. It has areas to improve but it feels like a sequel to SPAZ without being SPAZ. Even though it is still Early Access, I'd consider it a complete game.
Playing Company of Heroes 2 now (still on sale at Humble).

Re: What games you've been playing?
While im waiting for the release of Tyranny I decided to give Pillars of Eternity another try. I had trouble getting into it before but now that I have a party thats half story characters and half created npcs (who don't have crap builds like the story npcs) im having a better time of it.

Re: What games you've been playing?
So I "aquired" an old bungie title called Oni (Yes they made games other than Halo or Destiny). Its a a 3d beat em up made for PC (and Mac, and PS2...) and its actually pretty good. Keep in mind this came out before steam was even a thing and there weren't any beat em ups for pc at all other than this game.

Re: What games you've been playing?
Just finished Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I noticed in the special thanks part of the credits that Raven software was in there. That might explain why the fps and melee combat was decent/good.
Re: What games you've been playing?
