Fig Pledges and Kickstarter Pledges

Post by fanatictentacle » Wed Apr 06, 2016 10:17 am

Hello dear Devs ;)

I just got word (whole bunch of 'em, bundeled neatly in what i call an e-mail) that the Fig campaign is now online. So I directly jumped on the given link to acquire my super backer status on Fig! Everything seemed alright, but then in the process I discovered a disturbance in the force...

I backed as a Executive on Kickstarter. The list of rewards included all of the tiers below executive (so "cheaper" tiers...). The Rook tier included a special Game One Edition with commentary from you. But now it seems that I have to pledge extra to keep that reward.

Is that right? Is that a mistake? Or am I just being stupid?

I think it is correct. Fig is in USD where Kickstater was in CAD. 1 USD ~= 1.3 CAD That's likely also why the amount is $300,000 USD instead of $450,000 CAD. The remaining $50,000 USD could be reserved for Fig investment.

Not too thrilled about that either...but that's beyond IDGI's control. :(

fanatictentacle: Your superbacker reward includes everything you pledged for on KS, regardless of the new tiers. So no, you don't need to pledge anymore to get what you previously pledged to get.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

So why is the goal ~$46k less than Kickstarter when Fig investment is counted as part of the $300k?

Kind of disappointed it jumps from $50 to $100. My preference would be:
-Digital Wallpaper
-Name in credits
-Digital copy of Consortium: The Tower (Backer Special Edition)
-Private Developer Forum Access
-Alpha/Beta Build Access
-Digital Soundtrack by Jeremy Soule
-Digital Churchill Tower Diagram
-Digital Consortium Game One Backer Special Edition DLC
-Digital Vidal's Journal
-Digital Screenplays for both Consortium & The Tower
-Q&A Video conferencing sessions with the team (my internet sucks)
-In-Game iDGi-1 Console Feed
-Backer-Only Virtual Trainer Challenge Map
-Consortium Royalty status in developer forum
-Physical T-Shirt
-Physical Consortium Bishop metal pin

I'd pay $60 for that. Could axe a few more things to make it fit (like status and screenplays).

Ford: You get to have all of the rewards of your original tier in addition to whatever new stuff is in the Fig tier....

You will see when you redeem the link I just sent you...

Any chance you could add "Backer-Only Virtual Trainer Challenge Map" to the extras at $50 package?

Also, some details on that would be nice.

We decided to limit the number of Extras at the beginning of the campaign. This way, we can see what people want and add some more at the midway mark.
So yes! There is a chance! :) If enough people want it, we'll add it.

I assume you can add an extra to an existing pledge at that point, correct?

FYI, I just got the Fig email. Don't know if it was something on your end or if Microsoft decided to let them through.

I backed and am eagerly awaiting the addition of a Virtual Trainer extra! ;)

The Virtual Trainer would be perfect for something like Metal Gear Solid's/Revengence's "VR Missions." Cheap to develop and very fun/challenging to play. You could even open that up to mod support. If you were feeling really ambitious, could make that a co-op/multiplayer component of the game too. Oooo, expansion pack! =D

There's a typo on the Fig page in Q&A under "How will the digital copy of The Tower be distributed?" It says "detail" instead of "digital."

Edit: Another FYI. The flow chart image here:
http://dev.interdimensionalgames.com/Co ... _Chart.png

Could be reduced from 2.76 MiB to 860 KiB by saving it as 8-bit color. Would save on some bandwidth.

Fixed that typo, thx Ford. Glad you're all sorted now.

The details on that reward are sketchy at this point, because it's very design will be derived from backers collaborating and discussing ideas! We will literally make a special section of this forum that's only accessible to the folks who have that reward...
Do, or do not. There is no try.

Hi there,

I don't want to focus on the negative, but I just would like to know what would happen if you do not reach funding goal on Fig? I cannot see any details on the Fig site that tackle this.

GL I really enjoyed the first title

Bah. If I A: Had access to my computer (don't until Sunday)

B: Remembered that super Backer link when I got home (got it while I was in college.) So I could take advantage of it.

C: Didn't have Bravely Second's collector's edition coming in next week that's costing me 90 bucks.

I'd so immediately go back this. ....Especially if there's limited more content. All that 220 buck stuff and new tier rewards. Mmmmmmmmmm.....

I know this gets a little off-topic, but:

I really wish you (the team) best luck! I hope this campaign gets more publicity than the last one. I think there should be more press regarding Dr. Greg! Get those old, true BioWare believers on board!

Its interesting to see. that by now the Fig campaign has made so much more money... but only because 100k got already invested, not donated! I would love to invest by myself, but the entry level for that is just to high for a normal person.

Do any of these pledges contain a physical copy, or is that always an additional cost?

The physical Backer Special Edition is also available as an add-on, you can add it when confirming your base pledge. :-)

The Fig is doing -very- well. Also a crapton of investor interest. I think we need to step up PR to get people up in this thing.

Frickity frick frick frick. Freaking heck.

I am somewhat freaking out right now. I think all my math is right, but FRICKING FREAKING FRICK.

Oh. Wait. My panic was not really... needed? I didn't realize I got like 100 dollars off through Super backerness... Yaaaay, 154 dollar Consortium Knight Goodness. I DO NOT HAVE TO QUITE YET PANIC AND FREAK OUT! I'm hovering at 90 bucks (At 200, but 90 collector's edition Bravely Second just went through, and spent 22 bucks on another things, actually can I cancel that?) right now. At my 45 dollar a week allowance every monday, and roughly 5 weeks, means i'll have like 310 or something at the end. ...But still. I can panic easily when I dip under what I wanted to spend on it.

Panic, please subside. I'll be fine!

Also, I got my computer access back, so I shall be around more!

I think super backer applies to anything $50 USD and over (might depend on what level you backed at in Kickstarter). If you're concerned about money, you can easily drop your backing to $50 USD then raise it later in the campaign (still have some 30 days left) as funds become available. That way you can get what you can afford and not panic. :)

"1. Choose the Bundle level at or above $250 CONSORTIUM KNIGHT
2. In the next screen you should see two unlocked and automatically selected Extras under the Bundle description: one to give you a $96 discount and ensure that you get the rewards from your previous pledge, and one for claiming your Super Backer benefits and status.
3. Click Finish Pledge in the upper right to be shown the Stripe checkout step where you can enter your Debit or Credit Card and click the blue button."

Mine only applies at 250 or above. That is originally what I pledged for on Kickstarter, and the link I got works on it.

But hey, I get to put a name in Lore!

....That will be SO FUN. I LOVE MY OCS SO MUCH. ...I'll probably go with the one in my image, frankly. Thalia is adorable and my mental daughter. She gets everything. ...Though being able to add her faction's name would be nice... ....Deciding that will be SO HARD.

If you never knew about this, having the ability to put the name of Thalia or her nation (Which I named The Inquisition... My original universe is kinda bizarre, but I love it. I mean, the Inquisition is a nation in space... with Armor and Weaponry designs based on Medieval Europe, specifically around the whole iconic Plate Armor timeframe and KNIGHTS! To the point I even made a bunch of Knighthood Orders for it. ...And might I remind you, it's in SPAAACCEEE. In the FUUTTTUUURRREEE [Like 8026]. ...I mean, another nation is based on Sengoku-Period Japan...) in ANYTHING is insanely awesome to me. Simply because I love all my hobbyist writing stuff.

I love it. I also love gushing about my stuff. ...Don't get me started. I'll never stop gushing over it most likely.

Another thought: if you charged it to a credit card, credit cards have a grace period before payment is expected which would give you about an extra month to come up with the funds (assuming that is still a problem with the $96 discount). Debit cards charge instantly. Paypal (does Fig support it?) charges instantly if there is a bank account on file; if there is no bank account, you have no funds held by PayPal, and there is a credit card, it will be charged to the card and the credit card grace period will apply.

Good to know that superbacker unlocks at your previous pledge or greater.

If they're doing lore via the information console again, I believe this is an example of what it looks like.

I kinda don't care how it looks like.

...I just want it. It'd be soooo cooooollllllllll to me. I like spoiling Thalia. Getting her name in anything I did not write, counts.

...Even if she's still a fictional character in whatever she goes into. Quite frankly, I just like it. Don't ruin my enjoyment of getting to put her name in something I didn't write (or have the ability to input a character name for a single-player game). ...Though I do enjoy doing that. Still, don't ruin it. Seriously. I just like putting her name in things. She IS my Mental Daughter, after all. ...And i've had her as a character for yeeaaarrrrssss. She's precious to me.

The discount should make it so it really isn't a problem. In 2 weeks, i'll have more than enough for it, and then I'll have another 3 weeks to simply save.

Now me, STOP SPENDING MONEY AND START SAVING IT AGAIN.

Hm. If I'm in the lore it'll be tricky. I'm a Boyle after all, so I may have to be a relative or something. I demand a conversation with Rook 13 about how his uncle inspired his love of 2Ds.
